When will the media and the Democrats understand?

There will be no midterms.

Either ICE will scare everybody away from the polls, the postal service will burn all the democratic ballots, or Trump will straight up declare the election rigged, null and void and declare martial law or some shit.

How do I know that?

Because Trump behaves EXACTLY as if the midterms didn’t matter.

If he expected a fair election - let alone any election at all - he would endeavor to win people over to the Republican side. And every-fucking-thing he does achieves the exact opposite. He has dementia and he’s not smart, but he’s smart enough to know that. Yet he doesn’t care.

Students who plan on cheating on the test don’t study. And you wonder why they don’t study and look all cool and casual about it, right up until the time they take the test and you see them pull out the cheat sheet under the table.

That’s Trump: he doesn’t intend to take the midterm test fairly. I guarantee you that. And he has the power of the presidency.

When Sam Altman tells you OpenAI’s latest model hacked other companies, tricks “researchers” and conspires against them to prevent being turned off, are minutes away from achieving general intelligence… over - and over - and over again, you might genuinely wonder why the CEO of a company is openly admitting the shit his company makes is so dangerous.

Normally, when a company makes dangerous products, its share price drops immediately. But with AI companies, the reverse keeps happening: the more egregious the tricks AI is supposedly capable of pulling off by itself, the higher the valuation of the company rises.

And here’s why: when a LLM is portrayed are a genie escaping its bottle, the message isn’t that the bottle is inadequate, it’s that there’s a truly awesome genie inside. And AI companies essentially get VC money on the promise that their shit gets better and better.

Sam Altman is perfectly aware that AI doesn’t scale well, earns pennies on the dollar, is voraciously energy- and water-intensive, is universally hated by people who have job and try to feed their families. But he has to crank up the narrative to keep the investment money flowing in.

When the game is up and people see the charade for what it is, the bubble will pop. And it will pop loudly, and take down a good chunk of the real economy with it.

Trump is a felon. He is a convicted sex offender. He organized the Jan 6 insurrection. EVERYBODY knew those things. Even the most simple-minded Bible-thumping redneck who voted for Trump deliberately voted for a guy who did things that run contrary to basic Christian moral values.

Ignorance and misunderstanding are not valid excuses in the case of Trump: the guy was very publicly awful, and it was not difficult to understand the sort of man he was and the sort of things he did.
