I think maybe they misunderstood the insult “get stuffed!”
Since I invariably wind up getting “name suits” types of comments, here’s the explanation behind it:
Around the turn of the millennium, I was trying to come up with a username to use on a particular site that had a shortish character count limit for usernames. My goal was something related to the fact that I would often be making my points in arguments with “holier-than-thou” types by taking what they were saying, and turning it on its head so the offensive stuff was directed back at them.
I also happened to learn shortly beforehand that many years ago “'ape” was somewhat commonly used as a verb to mean “imitate” or “copy.”
I’m sure you can figure the rest out.

I was a kid in 6th grade the last time I spoke any significant amount of German while attending Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg. With nobody to speak in German with since then, I have forgotten too much of it in the roughly 45 years since to hold even a minimal conversation. I wish that weren’t so, as I still miss that beautiful country (kid me loved exploring the castles).
2·4 months agoBut those who pay attention know which is the truth, while yelling “lies” seems to work on the clueless - seems win-win to me.
And the only cost was the USA itself.
They have the power to do so, so why didn’t they make it at least somewhat retroactive? There’s no real reason anything released in the past five years couldn’t have been included, for example. I can see giving extra time to dust some things off & update the code, but I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request.
