“I know you had a hysterectomy but let’s just take a pregnancy test anyway.” - doctor in the ER

Does this happen more with male doctors or female?
Yes.
Being asked about it and then being required to take a pregnancy test anyway even when you are not able to get pregnant shows the doctor isn’t going to be listening to you.
When every single fucking ER visit for someone who knows they are not pregnant due to not having sex or not being physically able to get pregnant starts with a pregnancy test ‘just in case’ instead of addressing the issue you came in for it is clear that they aren’t going to listen to you about the real issue.
Image is of marble columns with shadows on the roof that resemble the twin towers on fire at a glance.
More effective as a thumbnail.
When the ER or urgent care always insists on discussing pregnancy ‘just in case’ when a woman is not able to get pregnant it means they are focused more on something other than the actual problem at hand.

3·2 days agoThe publisher is the one that acts like that scene is the only one that valve might have objected to and acting like it exists in a vacuum. Two years ago valve asked for a build of the game because of something concerning on the game page, and I would bet money ‘child rides naked lady’ was not on the page. It was clearly a decision based on the game as a whole at the time, not one scene.
Kind of like how Epic changed their mind at the last minute after doing their own age rating verification that had a different result than the one the publisher submitted. Again, not based on one scene but the game as a whole.
Also the developer saying the scene and all the characters makes more sense with adults is obviously bullshit. If the scene did not have the overall sexual context of the game then having a child pick their slave horse is more in line with the themes of the game. The player is described as playing a ‘young boy’ in some articles and early promotional materials but the publisher stresses he is 20+ just like the ‘young woman’ who picks the slave horse. Aging them up does significantly change the story. What college kid is sent to a farm to work? That is what you do with teenagers.
I am not saying that the finished product shouldn’t exist or anything like that, but that the story focused on one scene out of context is glossing over a larger picture that was being seen as more edgy in earlier builds and is still enough for Epic to back off. I am saying that storefronts being cautious makes sense.

1·2 days agoNo it doesn’t.
Corrupt people are taught to be corrupt, whether intentionally or by example. Like having a terrible parent who teaches them that selfishness and taking everything is how they should behave.
But once someone has chosen that path they tend to look for opportunities, and that includes positions of power. They can change, sure, but people who have been corrupt for decades are very unlikely to change especially if they have benefitted from corruption.

World News@lemmy.world•US may end support for Ukraine war effort, says Donald Trump JrEnglish
2·2 days agoIt is false because the stated cause, “corrupt rich people leaving”, is not true so it would not lead to the “peasant class” being left behind to do the fighting.
Yes, the “peasant class” always fights the wars, but not because of something that didn’t happen.

The separate communities across instances is a benefit of federation just like separate posts are a benefit over a single thread for everythjngs. Yes, features that allow them to be combined for those that want that way of interacting is great, but we don’t need a single news community between all instances when there are can be massive differences between instances.

322·3 days agoIn a lengthy tirade against the purpose of continued fighting in Ukraine, Donald Trump Jr also said Ukraine’s “corrupt” rich had fled their country leaving “what they believed to be the peasant class” to fight the war.
If this was true (it isn’t) he is saying that the US should stop supporting the less we’ll off because the corrupt people left. He is saying we should only support a country while the corrupt wealthy people are still there.

I take the ER version of methylphenidate and drink at least a couple cups of coffee each day and the coffee works like regular people describe it to be a little energy pick me up instead of calming my mind like it used to.
