KDE@lemmy.kde.social•KDE Plasma 6.6 : still the best Linux desktop environment, in my opinion - The Linux Experiment
9·2 days agoI started with gnome, because I disliked the style of plasma, but with latest major change I made the switch, first I themed it to be macOS style (dock + top bar) but maintaining a themed desktop (especially missing icons) was a PITA, so now I just use endeavourOS plasma theme as it comes out of box 😂
Guess I got old
This funny, now I have a new one, so many music plugins and movies 🫢
It is funny, how it indicates that either pirates like making music, or other way around 😁
Another prove, that you mostly hurt big tech and big labels pirating and the artists are even pirating themselves
What a fun world we live in
I opened it on mobile and got only one Download i never did. Is this because my provider rotated IP addresses and someone torrented a sample pack using cellular network

2·3 days agoI hear wank pods and swinging; you have my attention 😏
Hu? Your APT tells, that you have the 580 installed but GUI tells you have nouveau installed? 😮
Btw. The (open) means that nvidia has made parts of the driver open source

3·3 days agoAnd keepass is perfectly cloud ready by placing the kdbx file into your cloud storage and sync using webDav or similar.

12·3 days agoYess!
I store the keepass vault on my nextcloud
On iOS and macOS, I use Strongbox pro (one time purchase), as it integrates beautifully into the apple ecosystem using its APIs.
On linux and windows free KeepassXC with browser plug-ins
On Android I use the free keePassDX which, like strongbox, uses the android APIs for passwords
I see 😇 you are already using latest proprietary nvidia drivers, if I read that correctly and you have nvidia-utils, which enables you to use Vulkan
Anyway, on mint, one uses the GUI tool driver-manager to switch (nvidia)drivers:
What distro do you use, generally, there is a relatively easy way to switch to the nvidia proprietary ones, or what is “regular”in your case?
Last time I switched nvidia drivers after initial installation, I had to uninstall (lib32-)vulkan-nouveau (32bit and 64bit) and install (lib32-)nvidia-utils manually, but I guess, that may distro specific.
I think there are some that only install FOSS during initial installation
Well, no, not at all. Nvida works on wayland on any distro, but it just works on some distros.
It just works means no user config required.

Technology@lemmy.world•What Your Bluetooth Devices Reveal About You: Building Bluehood, a Bluetooth scanner that reveals what information we leak just by having Bluetooth enabled on our devices.English
49·3 days agoTldr: Bluetooth isn’t entirely the problem. The problem is manufacturers who don’t add privacy features like rotating identifiers into their Bluetooth enabled devices. Many smartphones are doing this these days.
E.g. modern non-cheap devices (iphone, pixel, general higher level android, airpods, apple watches, other modern headphones etc.) have those, and are not really track able like this.

Congrats to your son!
