I’ve never played any of the Zelda games. Is this a true description of the story?
Not in the slightest. There’s basically 3 timelines in the series. The founding of Hyrule timeline which ends in Ocarina of Time. The timeline then diverged into a timeline where Link successfully defeated the demon king Ganon and one where he lost.
