As a Brit, I would happily deal with changing to the Euro to get back into the EU.
It was always a minority that wanted out. They were just particularly loud and motivated. I know several pro-EU people who didn’t vote, because it wasn’t worth the effort. The result was obvious. They were shocked afterwards. Unfortunately, by the point the damage was done, and the political class ran with it like a fat kit with a huge bag of sweets.
Put simply I think the euro is a bad idea and hitching the UK to countries like France, Spain & the plethora of eastern European users seems like a recipe for pain. Its thought that had the UK been using the euro in 2008 the financial crisis would’ve been felt significantly more than it was with the pound.
Plus the UK has seen a period of political & financial instability over the last decade that is only now beginning to settle & I’d rather not risk something else being set off via attempting to join the eurozone.
Just come back guys. We’re stronger together. All in, Euro and all. Let’s do this.

And it was also fed by bad faith actors trying to undermine both the UK and the EU.
I look forward to the day the UK can correct that horrible mistake.
Ngl I’d be aginst rejoining if it meant losing the pound.
Why?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I don’t understand or share your perspective, but it’s genuinely good to read about it.

I’ll leave it to the economists to decide what’s actually best. I’m just a layman who appreciates the unity, simplicity, and all it represents.
Imo we need to move forward together as a continent in order to best defend our interests. The days of thinking small and divided are over.
