Explanation: Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany, was a big admirer of Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Fascist Italy and the founder of fascism (at least as we would recognize it).

… the feeling was not mutual. Mussolini felt that Hitler was an unstable rambling lunatic, that Germans were just pretenders at civilization, and that Hitler’s seminal work, Mein Kampf, was utterly unreadable.

Of course, that didn’t stop him from becoming Hitler’s bitch, because fascists only care about power and hurting others, but it is funny that even the original fascist hated Hitler, lmao.

The original original fascist, Gabriele D’Annunzio (inventor of the fascist salute, the blackshirts, dictatorship, cult of personality, and the soul of fascism) had fallen out with Mussolini (after nearly dying falling out a window in suspicious circumstances), but still tried to get him to pull away from alliance with Hitler from 1933 until his death. He thought Hitler was a poseur and a clown, and must be compensating for some Jewish ancestry. No doubt he thought the Austrian was ripping off his own material, and perhaps jealous at the relative success he had with it.

Don’t know about the rest, but the idea of a dictator originated in ancient rome. You elected a dictator for a certain amount of time, in times of crisis, to fix shit quickly without having to deal with the bureaucracy of the senate.

      He’s right about that.
