Well ofcourse its more fun when you can finally compete in the top 5 again.
I think the overtake yoyo-ing that lasts 2 minutes is pretty boring tbh. Because after that you see Mercedes take off to the horizon anyway. New rules changed nothing except for causing chaos. Team dominance is still here.

I don’t get this… before you had car A following car B, nothing happens.
Now you get both cars having a chance to exchange attacks and defense moves, in any of the 2 passes there could be a new strategy or a mistake that causes excitement in the race
Worse case scenario, you get 2 perfectly executed passes and end up in the same position until the next attempt… how is that more boring than watching 2 cars following one another with no passes AT ALL?
Yoyo is such a bullshit term. Better drivers are better at strategicly deploying energy and are more successful at holding off competitors. It’s a huge improvements over processional raced of previous rule cycles.

The car behind gets an extra 0.5 MJ of battery recharge per lap, plus the team is the one that decides the battery usage mappings. Driver skill is far less important this year.

Even so, charging/deploying is not automated so the driver has a lot of management to do… in prior years, they get to press a button that would or won’t flip a vent

Guaranteed DRS passes required so much special skill. Sure, sure.
Leclerc has the same car, deployment programming, etc. as Hamilton but Leclerc got past Hamilton and hold him off (before the pit stop). It was a great battle between these two and the one who managed the situation better came out ahead. That’s racing.
Ever since the very first F1 race, drivers relied on good cars. That a part of the overall package is engineering by the teams is nothing new. In fact, if you dislike that aspect, maybe F1 isn’t for you.
There are plenty of spec / BoP’ed series around the world. I follow WEC and DTM, for example. Many people rave about the racing in IMSA’s Mazda MX-5 Cup which streams for free on YouTube and IMSA.TV.

I don’t know if you are aware that this regulation has the same shit, only much worse. Drivers 1 second behind have extra energy deployment+recharge over the whole lap. This IMO generates a greater speed delta with respect to DRS, which is why you see the constant position swapping.
You still have a DRS-like system, it simply became electrical instead of aerodynamic, which makes it harder to spot.

which provides the entire track for passing… as opposed to DRS where you could go get more coffee knowing that passing was all but impossible except on certain DRS designated areas
only much worse.
Except it’s much better, not much worse. DRS led to guaranteed passes (unless there was a much worse car behind, then to a guaranteed DRS train). The current rules lead to wheel on wheel action.
If you don’t like it, again: Watch something different. Those series exist already, I gave a couple of examples. Making F1 into yet another one of those would make little sense. Just be careful not to follow IndyCar or Super Formula because both have push-to-pass.

It feels like you are insisting that F1 should be free of criticism? That’s literally all I’m doing, agreeing that those overtakes are simply yoyo due to the car behind being given a massive advantage, and that driver skill is less important now.
As a sport, I think F1 sucks, but as a spectatle is somewhat great. As an engineering competition is very amazing
EDIT: gotta admit that Ferrari battle was pretty fun to watch, made me dislike the regulation a lot less.

then why are you complaining about it? maybe watch some more before making up your mind.
I admit I barely understood the whole thing before watching… what I know now is that there is more passing, even if it’s yoyo we get to see 2 passes to end up the same (assuming they are both perfectly executed) instead of watching one car following another for a lot longer (sometimes forever, looking at you Monaco)…
Even better, it looks to me that cars do stay closer to one another for longer… last year, half the races were not worth watching after the first 3 laps
It feels like you are insisting that F1 should be free of criticism?
Criticism is fine, I do it myself plenty. You naysayers want to turn F1 into something it never was.
As a sport, I think F1 sucks
Again: Watch something else. Nobody’s forcing you to watch something you hate.
I fear a spec series is the only way to stop team dominance. It’s only been 1.5 races. I suspect even the yo-yo racing will stop as teams figure out how to optimise energy deployment. Then it’ll just be the same F1 we’ve had for years of qualifying then a parade only interrupted by idiotic Ferrari strategy.
Except qualifying will be less interesting because they can’t even go all out for a single lap to get the best time. They have to lift in corners to recharge.
Starting to believe a win this season is possible for Lewis. I truly hope so! McLaren don’t look far off this week, I expect them to be in with a chance to leapfrog Ferrari on pure pace when they bring upgrades. Seems like the Ferrari engine philosophy works very differently to Merc…
Taking the first corner in Monaco then holding the race is possible for him
Yeah let’s do that!
