It’s a service that doesn’t even begin to claim to be truly anonymous, just to give you a secondary email that forwards to your real one so you don’t have to give your real email to someone.
This is a non story all the way through. The FBI went through the proper procedures, got a warrant from the courts, and Apple complied with that legal warrant, which they are required by law to do.
The only “story” aspect here is that someone threatened the girlfriend of the FBI director, who presumably is an innocent civilian and not involved with the FBI’s actions at all. She may have shitty taste in men, but that is hardly a reason to be threatened.
Yup, pretty much this. Mountains and molehills, all the way through. The dude was an idiot for thinking it was actually going to keep him anonymous. But people will use any excuse to shit on Apple.
Apple has plenty of reasons to be shit on, but this isn’t one of them.
