“The Shooting Star” freaked me out when I was a kid. All those mushroom things growing huge and exploding… wtf was that all about. My favorite panel in recent times is this one where Tintin’s in his living room and all his shit is crashing around him and he’s like: FML it’s the end of the world! It’s a perfect blend of grim and naive.
NGL, I loved this one. I first read it as a late-teen, so I guess maybe that’s why it wasn’t so shocking or terrifying as I might have perceived as a kiddo. The big point to me was how Tintin was still so adaptable and funny upon going in almost any direction, such as here, in a sci-fi direction. Plus, all those ‘adventuring professors’ were so adorable! XD
Sergio, I don’t know if I’m being a PITA here, but once again, I want to thank you so much for this series. You really do have a gift for picking out iconic / hilarious panels, and I’m here for it. :D
You’re not alone and it’s the only episode that makes no sense in any realistic context. It’s still good, but very weird.
When Thomson and Thompson swallow those pills in Land of Black Gold and suddenly start growing all that hair that changes color, that was pretty freaky too.
