The article is from 2022. With a new extension that opened in September 2025, Los Angeles Metro A Line has surpassed the Coast Tram for longest light rail line. The Coast Tram is still the longest meter gauge line.

There’s a tram every 15 minutes in summer, and every 20 minutes in winter. They go up to 70 kph outside of urban areas. They’re very clean and well maintained by (global) public transport standards. Sadly tram and bus drivers are often the target of physical violence, typically when trying to enforce fare collection and proper conduct by the passengers.
