      I understand what you’re saying, but could also be literal wage theft, or also more abstractly, from the view of labor theory of value

        If they were talking about wage theft in the sense of people being paid less than the value they produce, that number would be much, much higher.

          The 40% number indicates that they’re talking about taxes.

          And it would be a very ancap / libertarian take to be upset about 40% of your pay going to public causes, instead of being upset about the fact that your CEO probably pays you about ten cents for every dollar of value you generate (if even that).

      Besides, only a part of taxes goes to enriching the wealthy. Some is still used for good, useful causes.

      Of course, rightwing grifters are hard at work to change that, but for now, some part of taxes is useful and good.
