    I get it …

I bought new tires for my car and my bikes and 2 5gallon drums of Rotella t6…

All that shit is going to be significantly more expensive in the next few months… And so will the switch2

did it… did it actually go up, or did the price go up but sales per unit actually declined.

I’m seeing laptops that I used to be able to buy for 1400, now cost 2500-3000… nothing different about them but absurd prices…

Mat Piscatella of Circana will frequently state what drove the growth. A lot of times in the past year, it has been higher dollar sales from fewer units sold. In this case, it seemed to be a huge influx of people hoping to get a PS5 before price increases, as well as genuine system sellers for Switch 2 and PS5 by way of Pokemon Pokopia and Crimson Desert, respectively.

It’s basically what Sony and Microsoft have done for their entire console careers generation to generation: made a thing that’s slightly faster with perhaps some better controllers.

Disagree, Nintendo used to compete but stopped probably around the time of the gamecube. The wii was huge, such a fantastic product and then again with the switch. The forged their own lane both times so people didnt have to compete but this and wii u are lazy.

Playstation had massive swings, unlocked bootloaders, blu ray, 4k, entertainment systems.

Xbox tried too with the kinect and other big swings.

The ps5 is meh, I dont know the new xbox to be fair but the switch is such a meh product too. I have little doubt that thy could run anything they make for it on the original too.

Im not even sure the switch 2 has any big feature over the other one. A mouse wheel and some exclusives.

The Wii u was honestly great if you skipped the Wii since it was backwards compatible, but also had its own set of games (decent enough to re-release on the switch). The Wii being to popular and the Wii u being just slightly different seems to have killed it.

I would have guessed they made the same mistake, although at least this time its clear its not an add-on but a new console.

I’m not surprised and if Nintendo can keep the system at 450 and not increase the price. its sales are likely to only improve. With others rumored to moving to a hybrid pc concept , the Switch 2 will have the advantage of being the most accessible and affordable system available. Sony is unlikely to follow in Microsoft’s footsteps but if they do it will only help Nintendo. Especially with where the prices will be for the “next gen systems”

Last rumor I heard, and plenty of adjacent insiders think there’s merit to the claim, is that Sony is aiming for a ~$600 handheld SKU of the PS6 that would be the “Series S” to the main PS6’s “Series X”, while retaining the traditional console model. I think both of those things are a mistake, but that’s what they’re allegedly doing.
