What a weird framing.
A showdown, that implies relatively equal opponents. We use different words when the conflict is disproportionately favored by one side.
What exact leverage does the US have in this situation? The US can’t beat Iran. All of Trumps work on tariffs and global trade worked to undermine any leverage the US might have had in a situation like this two years ago.
Its not a showdown. Its China acting in its own interests after the US lost a fight for global hegemony China didn’t ask for. What credible mechanisms could the US bring to bear to demand China do anything?
Very weird framing
“A commentary on the People’s Daily app, the Communist Party mouthpiece, called it “a pivotal step” in using the legal instrument to restrain what it called the “long-arm jurisdiction” of the US.”
Okay. It’s a “news app” in China, axiomatic to anyone that it would be overseen by the CCP - but specifically point it out as a “Communist Party mouthpiece” is as easy as calling Bloomberg a “Western Capitalist propaganda mouthpiece”.
The U.S. is strangling Iran. Are they not doomed?
I mean. The US (and the west) has been strangling Iran for 47 years. They’ve been 90% strangled for decades. Lets put it all in relative terms…
The US was 0% strangled by Iran before this, Iran, 90% strangled. Iran cuts off the straight. Suddenly the US is now 20% strangled. The US cuts off Iran. Iran exports drop 20% (80% of Iranian oil goes to china). At the end of the day, which country is more prepared to deal with a bit of strangulation? The country with 5 decades of experience being strangled or the country with no experience? Iran can suffer far longer and far deeper, versus the US, who practically have never known suffering of this manner?
Iran has won. Hands down. I don’t think there are many analysts disagreeing with this. Its just a matter of time before the US either concedes or collapses.
I read somewhere that U.S. oil exports have increased. (And somewhere else that banks are raking it in.)
I wanna see the underdog win. But this is exactly according to plan.
Are you fucking delusional? Do you really thing a 10% increase in oil exports is going to mean piss among shit for the fact that all inputs for all industries could increase in cost 100-200%?
I swear to fuck… And this isn’t the underdog winning here. Its an insane administration showing they have no conception of how the planet works.
They. Want. Economic. Collapse as an excuse to usher in fascism.
