    Whenever I checked the lenovo website for my country, they have always offered a cheaper price with ubuntu instead of windows. But last I checked was like 5 years ago or so, but I would be surprised if they stopped ordering that.

    Dell I don’t remember, but honestly I would not be surprised if they do.

    Dell and Lenovo are the least shitty to deal with in terms of warranty

    So this news is not surprising to read, but still good to hear.

    That’s very cool. Excuse my ignorance but couldn’t Dell and Lenovo just…write their own firmware?

      They do write some of the firmware at least such as BIOS updates. This is just a generic update service so you don’t need to install a different updater application for every manufacturer, which is annoying for users and for manufacturers.

      And it also supports updating third party devices like SSDs which Lenovo and the like would prefer to happen without any work on their end.
