Valve appears to be moving closer to the launch of the Steam Machine. Yes, I agree with you. “Age” verification bad. But until we make politicians to change their tunes, companies need to comply with the law. And honestly, Steam’s looks like the least invasive one.
Steam is a part of Steam OS. It’s not just some another application that you can or don’t need to install. It’s there when you buy the device. And you can use SteamOS (including desktop mode) only after you logged into Steam. I think that’s enough and they don’t need to do anything else, but I’m not a lawyer.
I think people should just use other gaming distros with a big picture mode and login to Steam if they choose through it’s program. Then the user wouldn’t have OS age verification.
Politicians and the courts are so corrupt. Why should we fight back through the same corrupt systems? That seems counter intuitive to me. People need to take a stand in more effective ways.
