Do not care one bit. They’ve already got a special underground tunnel for cars to travel through that the rail is also presumably using, I haven’t ridden line 2 yet. They will probably get something special here too like a yearly stipend for residents to buy new noise cancelling headphones on King county tax payers dime. They’re just a bunch of whiny rich assholes living on a flock controlled island.
To be clear this is the Bellevue side, but you’re absolutely right about everything else. They’re rich people who are bitching constantly, who bought a home next to a large freeway/cooridor, and now they’re upset because they hear trains a few db over the constant sound of the freeway.
They also want free taxpayer money to… I don’t even know what. Soundproof their mansions and boats. Let’s all be crystal clear, they see a government agency and they think they can squeeze them for easy money.
Trains have been running since January in testing and they didn’t say anything then, suddenly after 6 months they can’t sleep? I call bullshit.
I must have read what I wanted to but most points still stand. Maybe the tunnel does amplify the sound like a speaker buttttttt why now. Maybe they all had a potluck and started talking about how to get some money out of ST. I just don’t know that life where I’ve got a lawyer on stand by to sue to get my way.
Literally that was my thought too, that they were all probably at a meetup and one person said “so those trains are a bit loud huh” and everyone just piled on, and some Karen decided that they need to send a letter.
Maybe I’m just a poor to them, but my home is literally in a flight path, I do hear planes roaring overhead regularly. Sometimes it gets a bit annoying, I’m not right under the runway or anything but sure I can hear it inside. I have never thought that I should go an send a letter to everyone. It’s one of those things, why does my tiny bit of land have say over the needs of millions of people? It’s just so arrogant in my eyes to assume that a bit of annoyance justifies everyone else in the region adjusting.
Has it been at least rumored why Sound Transit won’t put the same solution they used for the loud trains in Tukwila in here for Bellevue?

I’d be willing to bet Sound Transit has been working on a solution and the Bellevue residents are being impatient and a bit whiny. It seems hard to believe that ST would ignore legitimate complaints considering they’ve repaired similar issues before.
It’s not mentioned in the komo article that the Bellevue homeowners are demanding money for this? Do you have a link to that?
I’m certainly not one to defend Bellevue residents, but Sound Transit isn’t always the best when it comes to this kind of thing either. They already implemented a solution in Tukwila - I wonder why they aren’t being forthright about why they can’t do the same here.
Ha yea they would, that’s Bellevue for you. Maybe one day we can get the rail to west seattle
In a statement to KOMO News, Sound Transit acknowledged receiving the attorney’s letter but declined to discuss the allegations.
“Since there is pending legal action, we can’t comment,” a spokesperson wrote.
The dispute is not the first time Sound Transit has faced complaints about elevated rail noise.
In 2009, Sound Transit acknowledged that light rail trains operating through South Tukwila exceeded federal nighttime noise limits in certain areas. The agency ultimately installed lubrication equipment and other mitigation measures to reduce the sound levels. For now, Eggers hopes public attention will prompt agency leaders to act.
Sounds like Sound Transit knows a solution to the excessive noise. I’m curious why they haven’t installed lubrication equipment and other mitigation measures here? Maybe there’s plans to, but it hasn’t been finalized?
