Yes exactly. I also have no idea why it’s limited at all. And 4 was just comically low and useless.

If all chats are pinned, then I guess there’s no point?

Probably due to interface layout etc - easier to organise if its limited

This would be fine if signal didn’t populate the list with everyone who is on signal from my contacts, even if I’ve never sent a message. If those contacts are in a separate category (“uncontacted” or something), that’s ok, but they aren’t. Also the issue remains that I might need to remember someone is in there even if I’ve never sent a message, so I need to pin them. Plus those I actually do want/need pinned can still easily exceed 10, and certainly always exceeds 4, and always has.

For reference I only have like 35 contacts in there. So having even 20 pinned is still far from “all chats are pinned”.

Wow, people really use Signal differently. Currently, the only pinned chat I have is with my fiancée, and I don’t think I’ve ever had more than two pinned chats at a time.
How would you manage that? With that many, wouldn’t you need a kind of super pin to keep track within the pinned chats? I’m honestly just very curious.

As for Signal filling up the chat list. That really is kind of annoying (not too much because I simply do not scroll down that far). However, often the “New chat” button feels really useless because everyone is already in the list for some reason. For example, the “Is using Signal” (even if they are not new) and “New security number” messages add people to the list. Why Signal? Why?
