Counterpoint: The experts were at one point in favor of eugenics. Sometimes the experts do have serious blind spots compared to affected populations; vaccines are just an utterly stupid place to look for them.

One of conservative media’s biggest crimes, honestly. A huge chunk of the working class was convinced that anyone who went to college looks down on them, by pundits who actually do sneer at their own audiences when the cameras are off.

I give people instruction on how to operate the gas detection equipment that keeps them from dying, and I’ve had those same people call me a leftist elitist for trying to explain how to use this lifesaving device.

It took all my willpower not to just thank him.

Why must it be elitist to recognize people thoroughly trained in a field? Acknowledging this incorrect dichotomy already loses the game.

Oh, I thought the elitist in this context is the expert. I’m certainly not implying that to be a bad thing

China passed a law that you have to be an actual expert in tha things you want to be an “influencer” in. lets just do that!

“Ohhh, you wanted to comment on the genocide of Uyghurs? Well, you’re not a scholar on the subject, so that’s illegal”

Imagine the credentials you’d need to be considered a expert in this administration.

Cant the chinese government revoke degrees? This seems like a very easily abused law.

Yeah, it is a double edged sword I think - I like the alleged idea behind it but it can easily be used to silence unwanted ideas. But it’s not like free speech is a thing in China these days :( I suppose the same regulation in any European country would be a higher contrast (= more porblematic) with existing rights.
