The Seattle Seahawks sale has finally gone through, with an officially statement from the Paul G. Allen estate confirming the new group taking over.
Christ, these fucking leech billionaires need to pay some goddamn taxes.
Sports fans need to get a fucking life and stop feeding billionaires. The surest path to billions is buying a sports team because morons will pay thousands for tickets, thousands they may or may not actually have.
Agreed.
It took Clark Hunt (that motherfucker) getting a deal to move my team to a shitty McMansion in Kansas that made me want to stop watching. I wish sports weren’t so popular that people overlook the vulgar amount of money being shoveled to these sons of bitches.
Its insane how many people give no shits about anything
A tidy bit of business
The sale comes with a hefty price tag, as expected once news of the Seahawks going up for sale started to circulate, with ESPN reporting it at $9.612 billion. That number smashes past the previous high for an NFL franchise, when the Washington Commanders sold for a $6.05 billion price tag back in the summer of 2023. The original price Paul G. Allen paid to acquire the Seahawks in 1997 was $194 million, with this year’s final total coming to 35 times that original purchase price.
And they’ll lawyer their way out of paying any taxes on it.
Average NFL ticket 2025, $312. In 1997 that was $38.
Because morons keep paying.
Wow I figured that the NFL would prevent anyone from having an owner stake in multiple teams.
They do. They also don’t (or at least, didn’t) allow owners to own multiple teams in different leagues if they were in different markets.
Vinod will have to sell his stake in the 49ers. Jimmy Haslem used to be a minority owner of the Steelers before he bought the Browns. Same with David Tepper and the Panthers.
Stan Kroenke owned both the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche, but gave his ownership stake to his wife when he became the major owner of the Rams.
Ahh yes, thanks for the clarification. I had forgotten that Haslem was a co owner of Steelers.
