I was curious as to why they didn’t mention his party, turns out he doesn’t have one, but is an ex-Conservative

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Spencer_(politician)

Elected as a Conservative, he had the whip withdrawn in May 2025, and now sits as an independent.

On 13 May 2025, he was charged by the Metropolitan Police with two counts of sexual assault that allegedly took place at London’s Groucho Club in August 2023. As a consequence, he had the Conservative Party whip withdrawn.

Sounds like it was the incident mentioned in the article that made the Conservatives abandon him.

Yeah, it depends on the transgression.

If it’s transphobia and sucking up to billionaires or the Israeli state, you get promoted.

If it’s something that is actually viewed as a crime then it’s more like this… sometimes.

The message is “you weren’t good enough at hiding your crimes, you’re making us look bad”. Many of them often know about those transgressions, but they’ll only distance themselves if they come out to the public.

It was kinda like that over here last millenia but I swear now they are impressed when someone annouces their crimes for all to see or maybe better yet denies them when they are on like video and double down on their denials. They seem to feel if they can do them out in the open they are even more alpha. hur. hur.

Whenever I see that a public figure is accused of something like this as they became a public figure I tend to assume it is drummed up noise. Who hasn’t accidentally touched people while in clubs. Now - if there is video or photos like we saw of Urban Meyer in American. Then you are caught red handed. If this guy was casually trying to brush up against women, he would have other outlets and other accusers.

      Seems like there is.

Jurors were shown a slowed-down version of CCTV footage of Spencer unsteady on his feet that night and of the moments he approached the women.

Given that he “approached” them from behind and grabbed their boobs. Then he was kicked out of the club. So yeah, it’s not drummed up noise.

Your take doesn’t really fit with the timeline described in the article. If the police hadn’t screwed up, it would have come out before he became MP (and presumably he wouldn’t have).
