There isn’t enough context in the article to work out where Lucas thinks AI can help. It would be over thing using AI to help with VFX donkey work compared to for example replacing your screenwriter.

Yeah this isn’t new; it’s more of the same galaxy brain thinking that brought us Phantom Menace. Ok for little kids, sort of, but not able to capture the emotional weight of the original trilogy. RIP Marcia Lucas, who I believe is responsible for that heart.
