I’ve been playing the sequel, getting it 3 days early as a Kickstarter supporter.
I really really can’t stop thinking about the amazing fantasy world this game sets up. I spent all of the last two days just playing Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian, grinding at 3 different runs of it.
I think I still prefer Brante because it’s gentler thematically&content wise, and the routes are more distinct. Jerian: one linear route with a lot of little branches going off all throughout the story, Brante: three distinct routes define the game, each with their own rich variety, but the bulk of this variety occurs in chapters 3, and 4 out of 5.
Prince Jerian is also a fundamentally more evil character than Brante. Even though the characters are what you make them,
Jerian can casually kill creatures and people at inappropriate times, and the violence is graphic. But he’s nowhere near as bad as his brother.
Brante only does cruel things out of being forced into that situation.
The discord has been really fun as well, and talking with other fans has gotten me into using discord again. Great community around this game. It spawns massive history and philosophical debates.
I can highly recommend this one for anyone who’s into the genre
Hahaha! I came here to post this
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante used to be the best game in the world. Until they released the sequel yesterday 😇
It will absolutely change your life, and for the better, if you allow it to. Makes you think deeply about a great many things. The world building relies on a fabulous twisting of concepts familiar to us - Lineage, Nobility, Racism, and religion - taken to their extreme in a usually-hellish society. Humans live as second class citizens under the subjugation of a superhuman race called Arknians, who have created complicated propaganda and religious dogma claiming the gods gave them supremacy over this world.
Sir Brante is born just in time, and under just the right particular set of circumstances, to choose his own path in this world - to not be confined to just one of the 3 castes. He has the opportunity in change this cursed world for good. But surviving to the end of the story and doing that is a bit of a logic puzzle.
The game is derived from live action role playing and will resemble DnD style gameplay in its use of Stats to inform+calculate the vastly branching storyline.
Discord if anyone is interested (30 day expiry). I’m really passionate about this game.
Colour me intrigued!
Awesome. I almost bought this multiple times but never did because I didn’t have the time to play it. Now that it’s free though… I guess I’ll check it out.
