Alt: bluesky screenshot. The text of the post reads: “Someone please pay me to cover nothing but rural festivals I’m having THE TIME OF MY LIFE at the Elkhorn Rib Festival”.

The post includes a photo of a woman with glasses wearing a pink t-shirt that says “Anal Bead Tug o’ War Champion”. She is standing outdoors under a canopy or tent, tilting her head back and drinking out of a large glass bottle of Evan Williams. In the background, other festival attendees and camping equipment are partially visible.

Damn I’m kinda jealous!! If it wasn’t so goddamn hot and miserable outside for half the year, then I could totally see myself enjoying this. Alcohol or not, it looks like she is having a fucking blast lol plus rural places have the best BBQ food. Especially the south. You could try dozens of different ribs and sauces there, and I guarantee you won’t ever leave disappointed. Probably why the southern states have a higher rate of obesity tho lol

Lmao nooo that’s not what I meant at all, but I think it’s absolutely hilarious that someone thought I was hyped about the annual Anal Beads Championship this year.

Wisconsin isn’t that bad, is it? Maybe they will have good cheese to try. I wouldn’t wanna live there being a red state and all, but surely visiting there might be a fun time. Who knows.

Ohhh wait, you probably thought that when I said “southern” I was talking about this event in particular. I was just speaking generally and may have went a little off-topic there. Sorry about that that.

However, I’m sure the BBQ is still good even in states that aren’t well known for it. Basically anywhere in rural America will have a bunch of talented old folks making amazing food for festivals like these (and no, im not talking about the anal bead ones here)
