Amazon price fixing:
Amazon caught price fixing: “I’m so sowwy we’ll stawp, pwomise”
Tbh Amazon always had outrageous pricing for me, raging from 1.5-4x the price on other platforms. I don’t think I’d ever seen a competitive deal on the site.
I wonder if it’s their algorithm taking a distaste for me in particular or a local glitch, but no one in my area uses it either.
In any case, locally marketed price aggregators never even showed me an Amazon listing in the first place, so it’s probably an issue on their end, as most people aren’t willing to pay $76.5 + $115 shipping fees for a product worth at most €50.
depends where it is shipped, some items charged by an obscure as much S&H as the same product by another selling to match the price with little to no shipping or handling.
For me there are some items that are amazing deals, and other times its at par with local store pricing and sometimes they know you will be reordering and pricing spikes.
For example. I had an old obscure printer, so ink was $8 to clear stock, but once I ordered one the next time they wanted $40 because the algorithm knows they have a buyer. So I’d skip a print cycle with them and order local, and in a few months the ink price would drop below $20, but when I’d order again it would shoot back up to $35.
For a Honda Fit the Starter Motor at the dealer was $1000 (while civic was $400) for the Mitsubishi one. Rock Auto had it around $600. Amazon had one for $160. I figured a cheap knockoff, like most cheap brands. But it arrived looking just like OEM with all the proper machining, and not just a rough casting. Worked amazing.
So you really have to be price aware when using it.
i see that to, especially around special days they would do deals.
Stop making excuses. Stop buying from Amazon.
This. Half of it is just marketed crap anyway. Keep your money and stop buying shit you don’t really need.
Ok but literally read the article. I don’t use amazon, but I have the wherewithal to understand that I’m privileged enough to afford the price hikes amazon is putting on me for not using them. Not everyone can, though. And it was already bad 20y ago when Walmart held the same advantage.
Start thrifting and buy from eBay instead
EBay uses javascript quirks to port scan your PC any time you visit it.
That’s outrageous, to what advantage?
They’re looking for remote desktop stuff like VNC. It’s a thing for people to make accounts in good standing, and then sell access to it. Or get hacked. The scammer remotes in and does everything under the clean eBay account from their normal IP to not raise suspicion.
Ebay suuuuuuuuuuucks. We should go back to craigslist, but in a less get victimized way.
ebay isnt as cheap as it sounds, often time i compared between amazon, they are either about the same or mroe expensive.
Bruh, that sucks
Half the shit on Amazon is used or open box now anyways. Might as well get a discount and get it on eBay, Craigslist or other cursed marketplaces like FB or Nextdoor.
I’m pretty sure this is illegal:
The Guardian examined those records, as well as hundreds of pages of deposition testimony of current and former employees of Amazon and supplier companies. Most of the documents and depositions – which were partially unsealed in recent months – have never been publicly reported on.
The California attorney general, Rob Bonta, alleges that Amazon’s tactics have coerced suppliers into raising the prices of their products with its rivals.
In the case of the ice-cream maker, Bonta’s office points to emails that say Amazon temporarily took “down” the supplier’s inventory off its platform – a move that prompted its manufacturer, a firm called Maxi-Matic, to scramble to pull its inventory from Best Buy, eliminating Amazon’s price competition from the electronics retailer.
target is always half stocked all the time, and thier prices have been so gougy its more expensive than Whole foods on many items.
