German rapper Danger Dan and pianist Igor Levit had been invited to play a song for the 100th episode of a political satire show on TV. The performance was canceled at the last minute due to its message.
The lyrics were intentionally written to violate laws and everyone knew they would eventually be told not to play it.
There is nothing in that song that actually is illegal. Even the ZDF (broadcaster who denied the song being aired) never claimed so. They just said a vague “its a call for violence”, which it might be, but artistic freedom allows for such things in Germany, as has the artists previously shown when he performed his other grey area song on… you guessed it … the ZDF
