Usually rich people’s money comes from intergenerational wealth. So probably it came from his parents.
Sounds like he made his first $1m from an investment. Then he moved it all into a blind trust that might not have been blind while he went into politics .
The New York Times’ latest reporting advanced the story, noting the apparent fact that the Republican Senate hopeful, despite making $153,000 a year as attorney general, “recently bought three condominiums at a luxury resort in Utah.” From the article:
Mr. Paxton, 63, purchased the condos, worth a total of $1.6 million, in February, according to local property records, and transferred them to his blind trust. On the deeds, Mr. Paxton listed his address as a Dallas-area home. Police records indicate a woman who is not his wife lives there.

I would expect that every multimillionare owns several homes. Why is this shocking? If I was so rich, I’d invest in real estate too.
Billionares meanwhile probably own hundreds of homes. And farms. And other forms of real estate investments
