I don’t get it
What flavors though?
Zappy
Eh, I prefer tingly.
If only 9 volts were that price, I’d stock up for the smoke detectors for the next 5 years.
For everything else, I bought a bunch of rechargeable AA and AAAs a while back and those have been great. Haven’t used a D battery in years and a C battery for decades. I assumed they stopped making C’s.
They make rechargeable 9vs.
Since it costs me virtually nothing, I change my smoke detector batteries every 6 months. That way I can do it at my own convenience, at like 2pm on a Sunday afternoon, instead of 3AM on a Wednesday morning when one starts to chirp.
I wish rechargeable 9vs worked for musical instruments, the charging bit emits interference with active pickups 🫤
I also use them in my Schecter Hellraiser with no problem.
However, that is because I use NiMH batteries. They are regular old chemical cells- all of the circuitry and switching is done in the charger, which is a separate device. If you use USB-rechargeable ones it it quite possible something might cause noise. However, you might be able to add a smoothing capacitor to eliminate that if you really wanted.
Either one should be fine for pedals too, because every well-made pedal SHOULD have smoothing capacitors on the power supply to get rid of issues like that. Of course, that increases the cost by maybe $0.50 so some manufacturers cut that part.
I moved into a house last year that didn’t have enough smoke detectors for my taste, and the two new ones I bought used AA batteries.
Wait, what?? Those are a thing?
I’ve seen some rechargeable smoke detectors but never had a reason to trust those. Everything else has used the old school 9v.
Sometimes they’re wired into the homes electricity and the battery is just backup.
Unfortunately, some things can’t handle the lower voltage AA so must use alkaline.
No, that’s old rechargables like NiCad and NiMH. They make rechargeable lithium ones these days that have an integrated BCU and output 1.5v until they’re dead. Many you can charge via USB-C or micro, so you don’t even need a special charger.
OP said he bought a bunch a long time ago, most likely not lithium. I’m in the same boat, they just work in all devices unfortunately.
How much were the gals batteries tho?
Like 25 cents more an hour or something something wage gap
