I’ve been going to a queer book club, and we’re currently looking for books with trans characters to read next month.
Ideally we’d like a standalone book (not part of a series), and a story where trans identity is a significant part of it.

So I watched the animation a couple years back and thought it was great - I didn’t make the trans connection though!
The main character has a few lines discussing pronouns. And there’s the ambiguous gender / cross-gender attractions. Here’s a better writeup than I would bother writing :)
