One of the big sticking points stopping me from to switching to Linux is that I don’t get to do the incredibly cool crime of stealing from Bill Gates. I considered switching to RHEL, but stealing from IBM isn’t quite as cool.
Pfft, look at this guy, who wants to buy only genuine IBM PCs and not PC-clones! I bet he pays for his usenet subscription, and sends his extra AOL free trial CDs back so they can be distributed to users who need it.
Presumably the reason criminals would want to use Linux is that privacy focused distros exist that would make them harder to identify, as well as Linux just generally not broadcasting telemetry to corps that can give it to authorities at the drop of a hat.
Would a criminal not simply pirate a paid operating system?

:P
Bruh IBM is the primordial evil. They were evil long before the lesser demons came to rule
You steal the data BG could’ve gathered if you used his OS
And marketshare
And (eventually) attention from developers

I can pirate other things! Don’t tell me what to steal
Maybe a dumb one.
