I tried so many self hosted note taking apps I eventually settled that most are… either crap, or not worth it because you WILL find something which annoys you and you will try to fix it and you’ll get in a vicious cycle… of either performance, usability or security lacking.
1 Zim Wiki is the best if you want to have an easy way to take notes 2. If you want something to be accessible everywhere and in markdown format, just use fossil SCM either as wiki or editing the files manually…

Nah I mean, I was hoping it would be fully self hosted and offline, but I guess that would require you to run the models yourself
Yeah, I think this is part of their current business model, unfortunately.
I mean, it wouldn’t be hard to implement OpenAI compatible APIs. That would access to pretty much any AI service, including self hosted like Ollama.
But this would make their service unnecessary.
