Following recent and repeated public reporting about artificial intelligence (AI) technology breaking outside of human control and creating potentially dangerous viruses, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today urged America’s largest AI companies — Anthropic, Meta and OpenAI — to immediately pause their development of Artificial Intelligence.

    When driverless car (such as Tesla autopilot) crashes causing property damage or injury it commits an offense, and the responsibility is on the owner to face the charges.

    The logic should carry that if an AI agent commits a crime of hacking/data theft/misappropriation of resources/theft of service into another company, then the company that deployed the AI agent should face the criminal and civil charges.
