However, many people take guilty plea deals for lighter sentencing if they suspect they’re going to be convicted anyway. The legal battle is over, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other battles still to fight.

Plenty of innocent people have been coerced into falsely pleading guilty. Sometimes it’s the best legal move if you’re getting railroaded.
Yes. We may still think Luigi to be innocent. But the court can no longer do so. Nor can the defense now argue for innocence.
