It’s probably fine for them. My guess is that they went this way because it wasn’t profitable enough anymore, so they started the enshittification process. Windows has become a smaller slice of the pie so these things won’t matter much. They’re probably mostly focused on AI and Azure.
I’m surprised it held this long, don’t they have their own version on Linux or more than one?
