Golden chain tree in bloom. This tree is not native to New Zealand, but the similar native Kōwhai (Sophora microphyllia) is famous for its bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers that bloom in early spring.

When I search up Golden Chain trees, they have hanging “chains” that this one doesn’t. Are there different varieties?
E.g.
You may be right. I do not know.
Hopefully an expert in NZ native and exotic trees comes along!
