Cheers entities, I need your help.
Iām writing a paper in which I need to argue that gay panic is a term that is being reclaimed by the queer community, after having been used for evil far too long.
I was wondering whether anyone on here got a better idea than citing urban dict.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated :3
P.s.: The paper isnāt entirely about gay panic, but rather needs this snippet to āproveā that the Webis Trigger Warning Corpus 2022 is at least partially flawed.
From what Iāve been able to gather, the terms been used for a few years now (at least since 2020), though mostly amongst people under 25. It may very well be that itās a niche youth slang that will die out eventually. In which case youād be safe.
havenāt heard of gay panic yet, but bi-panic, which I think means realizing that you also find a same-sex person attractive. Heck, when hearing gay panic I thought it was about āoh, everyone is suddenly gay, that canāt be rightā like people say āSuddenly everyone is autistic. Autism-epidemic!ā. Did not expect this to be a legal strategy. And I guess the heterosexual person who acted in supposed āgay panicā is usually thought to be in a situation where a āNo thanks, Iām not into [gender]ā would have sufficed? So it leverages the homophobia of judge and jury?
