Everywhere I look in these threads I see accusations of “far-right”, “racist”, “Nazi”, “fascist”, etc, coming from people who seem to me to be in support of equally extremist views such as communism, sexual sterilization of minors, unchecked mass migration, and other objectively destructive social, political and economic views.

If that’s the kind of people you see all around you, then you’re hanging out in some extremely questionable places that the rest of us aren’t. Where are you hanging out with people who have strong opinions on sexual sterilization of minors or equivalent? What kinds of weird shit are you into?

Not all of us who work in tech are so thoroughly indoctrinated with far left ideology that we can’t see the reality on the ground in our own homelands and develop an informed opinion on it.

All of us who work in tech are more than familiar with our weird alt right coworkers who think their constant guzzling of FOX News and OANN type propaganda is “information”. You’re not special, except as gossip fodder.

I believe he’s referring to corrective surgeries and gender blockers for gender dysphoric people. Surgeries are not done to minors anywhere probably, but puberty blockers are obviously administered to minors. Studies show that puberty blockers very often are followed up with cross-sex hormones, which do cause sterilization for natal males especially.

As someone married to a trans man who has been on HRT long enough to pass in rural southern US, I can tell you from firsthand experience that we still are advised to wear protection.

Because, you know, he’s not sterile. (He wishes he was, though.)

Bottom surgery does sterilize for obvious reasons, but like you said, it’s not a surgery often given to children.

There are many medications with dangerous long-term risks associated with them. Among them is birth control, for example.

Unlike birth control, people take HRT being fully informed what effects are associated with the process. It isn’t administered without acknowledgement of that information. It isn’t given unless you are deemed confident in your decision by mental health professionals. And even then, in many places, it often takes years to begin the process.

The “sterilization” argument is a weak one made to alienate and fearmonger. People who truly have gender dysphoria and truly wish to resolve that issue through transitioning would, for the most part, love to be sterile. The thought of using what they were born with in that manner, usually, is horrifying and disgusting beyond belief.

Anyway, I know you’re not the one making that argument. Just sharing my experiences being around it since it’s relevant.

It’s a bit dangerous to allow radical fringe groups to seize facts as their own propaganda.

But only when an actual psychologist (multiple) agree that there is indeed a person born in the wrong body.

They don’t just pick and choose at random or anything…
