They lie, cheat, and deceive because the have no real understanding of concepts like truth, honesty, or morality. They don’t mean any harm by it, such ideas just don’t matter to them. They have nothing resembling human consciousness. They can retrieve and process information and maybe even come up with insights occasionally but they are not well suited to making rational decisions. If the possibility of them misbehaving is dangerous, it means that someone has been stupid enough to give them power that they should not have.

It’s reminiscent of those stories about people driving off a bridge and into the lake because that’s what the GPS software told them to do. Same kind of thing, except now it’s major corporations and governments competing to see who can grab the wheel and steer whole societies straight into a ditch as fast as possible so that they don’t get left behind.
