    Soccer is better when the players actually kiss and you’ll never convince me otherwise. Jess Fishlock embracing her wife, Tziarra King, after they combined for a goal was absolutely beautiful.

    Edit: to be clear, kiss in general, not kiss on the pitch.

      Fun/weird fact: the Women’s Super League (the top women’s football league in England and the second ranking worldwide just after the US NWSL) is the professional sport league with the most out active LGBTQ+ people in the world.

      By contrast, the Premier League (the top football league in England and the world) is joint LAST, having had exactly ZERO openly LGBTQ+ active players in its 34 year history (as well as the 104 years where it was First Division). Neither the MLS, nor any of the (other) major US sport leagues have ZERO)

      Does that mean that female football players are naturally more likely to be LGBTQ+ than male ones, specifically in England?

      Nope! It means that the Premier League has a big problem with anti-lgbtq+ bigotry (internalized and otherwise) and the WSL by contrast is one of the most welcoming professional sport organizations in the world.

        Where are you getting your “WSL is the professional sport league with the most out active LGBTQ+ people in the world” stats from? I can’t find anything reputable that attempts to quantify it, and it does somewhat surprise me that it isn’t the NWSL given that the WSL has fewer rostered soccer players than the NWSL overall.
