I use shampoo from a large bottle with a pump. The pump can’t get the last bit out of the bottle.

I cut apart the pumps from two shampoo bottles and epoxied the caps together to make an adapter. I’m going to use it to attach the old bottle to the new bottle and drain the remainder out.

    Funnel

I 3D printed this funnel for that same purpose. I have been patiently waiting for an opportunity to use it.

I simply hang those nearly empty bottles upside down and let the remains drip into the new bottle.

Compared with that your solution is high tech.

Might I offer a design suggestion? Feel free to ignore

So does it have a hole near the bottom of that straw? If not, I’m thinking drill one in. Like, in the side of the straw. Am I making sense?. It’ll pour faster, the top hole (vertical) just became your air hole. The bottom hole (horizontal) gets all the shampoo.

In use the tube points down into the new bottle.

It does not have a hole, but the tube is pretty wide.

I had thought about providing a way for air to pass into the upper bottle, but I decided it probably isn’t necessary.

My expectation is that the shampoo is thick enough to cling to the inside of the tube as it drains down, and thin enough to leave space for air to pass up through the center of the tube.

It’s getting it’s first use today. I’ll leave the old bottle draining into the new one until tomorrow morning, so even if it has to do the glug-glug thing, it should still successfully drain completely.

I had a cousin that saved quart oil bottles for years, and then spent a whole day draining 50 or so to get a full quart. A device like this would have saved him so much labor

How come when I shake the damn bottle, the last bits don’t goddamn settle in the middle, so the pump will work, but then I open it, and there’s clearly more than enough to do that? Fucking asshole conditioner.

You need to get out your pocket knife and epoxy and free yourself.

It’s like a weight has been lifted off me.

The knife is for the pump edits. I’m not recommending self-harm.

First I cut off the narrow bottom end of the cylinder to remove the tube that goes inside the bottle, then I cut off the top tube that runs to the spout of the pump. That let me push the plunger out through the bottom.

I did the same thing with the other pump, except I had to get the entire tube out of that one so that the only part that was left was the fitting that screwed onto the bottle. To do that, I ended up cutting it and tearing it out with pliers. It would have been easier to use a drill to drill out the center, but then I would have had to leave the room where I was sitting.

Once that’s done, all you need to do is join them together.
