Where is lawbreaking not just visible, but designed to be seen? Where is antisocial behaviour worn as a badge of honour? Where is pleasure gained directly from causing distress? And where is reckless endangerment often ignored by the police or treated with the mildest of punishments? The answer is on the roads.

Is there any action that won’t trigger spite from this type of person? Their entire existence consists of playing the victim and throwing tantrums because somebody advocated for something different to what they are used to.

This thread got me thinking. I think OP is correct that we need to stop doing the masculinity thing. If its a behavior change we are hoping for a better way to cause self reflection might be to use some of the noble features of what they think masculinity is. Does a protector drive like that and endanger everyone? Other peoples families / kids are also on the road. Would someone trust you to drive their loved ones around? Dont you want to be the guy everyone can count on to do the right thing and get us back safe?

Hey man I saw you pull into the lot the other day. I was surprised cause don’t act like you would drive that way. Make them question how they are being perceived. A little manipulative but fuck it.

Yep. If you want to reach people it’s gotta be relevant to what they care about.

Nah, this doesn’t work. I tried to gently tell a guy at the gas station one time, in one of those huge lifted pickups, that he had his brights on (as a hint that his headlights were too fucking bright) and he freaked out on me, screaming, threatening, etc.

Gently doesn’t work and you were a stranger. These messages need to come from friends or acquaintances / coworkers / clients. The message needs to be delivered assertively while leaving them a small out to protect their ego.

They won’t change in front of you, they need to process that on their own. Don’t rub their face in it if they change.

Maybe, maybe not. I know for a fact that this type of communication backfires spectacularly though.

dumbest sentences I’ve read in ages. “MAYBE, MAYBE NOT, BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT”

well then if you know for a fact, it’s not maybe, maybe not? do you even think about what you’re writing?

apologist for garbage, wants people to think about the poor persecuted masculinity.

        pfft. poor fucking babies

Y’all can’t think past your own feelings. Rhetoric matters. This rhetoric makes chuds double down. Irrespective of whether or not theres some optimal phrasing this phrasing sucks.

This rhetoric makes chuds double down.

they doubled, tripled and mortgaged their house, grandparents and teeth a long time ago.

not any more offensive than maybe maybe not i know for a fact lol.

I love that the chuds can engage in whatever heinous shit they want to say, outright racism fascism etc., but you’re upset for the chuds that’ll be upset.

          The sentence,

          Maybe, maybe not

          relates to the question,

Is there any action that won’t trigger spite from this type of person?

          from the poster above.

          The phrase,

          I know for a fact

          refers to the phrase,

          this type of communication

          that being,

The dude 6" off your bumper is not going to hear “petro-masculinity” and have a quiet contemplative moment about carbon emissions and road safety. He’s going to feel scolded, hear that you’re triggered and frightened of his masculinity, and then he’s going to start driving even more aggressively out of spite.

which, of course, is a strict subset of “any action”. It is therefore entirely possible to have certain knowledge of one without certain knowledge of the other.

Maybe you should learn how to read full sentences before you ask people if they think before writing?

HE FUCKING SHOULD. HE SHOULD BE TRIGGERED.

You are completely missing the point in some silly fucking kindness competition.

As for your rhetorical chops, construct better sentences bro. jfc

I haven’t taken any side in the kindness debate, I am merely taking issue with the fact that you lack basic reading comprehension skills and you’re being an arsehole to other people about it.

              Case in point:

He’s going to feel scolded, hear that you’re triggered and frightened of his masculinity…

HE FUCKING SHOULD. HE SHOULD BE TRIGGERED.

Read that quote again. The scoldee is not the person who is triggered in that sentence. The scoldee imagines that that scolder is triggered.

Making fun of them, making them part of the outgroup. You can’t show fear, so in this case with the car just get out of the way and let them fuck tenderness up the road because they will get caught. Or call the cops and say they are swerving appearing drunk lol.

But in regular life you basically need to laugh in their face and cut them out of being in the group.
