I remember when “e(lectric) cigarettes” were sold as a way to quit real cigarettes.
They are, but the implied promise was that after quitting cigarettes, one would quit the e-cigarettes. Now, what sort of product would that be for the people selling it?
It turns out that when you can put any amount of nicotine in something, you could put less, or MORE! It just took capitalism a year or two to figure out the “more” part, and the rest is history.
