idk man it’s bleak. It’s like there is no fight in the people, they think fighting is just voting for the latest DSA Democrat and are completely unprepared for the horrors awaiting us in the coming decades. The only off ramp I realistically see is a communist movement birthed from the discontented workers when the Ai bubble -Great Depression 2.0 hits us in the face. This movement is only possible if we prepare for it. If you are reading this right now of in America I think we only really have about 12-16 years before the death camps & draft papers. This is our last chance to avoid all of it, how we educate agitate and organize in this short short window.

Hell, even if we come close as the German revolution did and fall short we still have a “GDR” to look forward to when America collapses after WW3. But still only if prepare sufficiently now.

I’m sorry for the dark post, get organized if not already.

The US was the original Nazi America.

I do agree it’s going to be bleaker for some settlers as that global south subsidy inflating their wages and purchasing power parity starts drying up even more.

A lot of them will make it even worse for black and indigenous folks to keep their slice of their pie; a significant chunk of them will dive deeper into fascism to protect their Herrnvolk Democracy. But that doesn’t mean a potent socialist vanguard cannot arise to counter; the strength in the latter is the science of their revolution.

ngl we are in a great depression because last night i was crying myself to sleep due to not being able to find a job and it’s not normal for a 19 year old to cry themselves to sleep over employment. it just shouldn’t happen and at previous times in history this would NOT happen. maybe we forget this because of how easily middle class workers mindlessly accomodate the system (as that’s the whole point of the middle class today, not being morally judgmental here) but its not normal. they’re not gonna call it a great depression because we’re in peak liberalism and its way better and easier to just say we have a crisis of “NEET” and blame it on individual choices

We don’t know what is to come, I think it is reasonable to assume that all our lives will get much worse in the coming decades because most evidence points towards that. However, who knows what AI will lead to exactly, same with climate change, same with the rise of this new MAGA fascism. Rather than being stuck in our own heads thinking and dwelling about what is to come, we should work on what we can do, stick to what we are in control of, be in the present moment.

We’re all gonna die one day anyway, if our fate is nuclear apocalypse in 2040 and none of us have any chance of stopping that then fuck it we enjoy life until then. We can still help our communities, create something beautiful, spread joy and kindness. We can still leave a legacy for a post-nuclear world, or post-AI matrix-esque dystopia, or post-climate apocalypse hell or whatever you know.

Basically what I am getting at is that this worrying about and specific predicting of our long-term future is not worth it, comrade. But still I understand your worries and I think people should understand how serious it is that we get this movement moving, and to be fair if a post like this does inspire someone to act due to fear of what may come then it has served a useful purpose.

Germany comparisons have their merit, but I’d also caution against viewing them as identical trajectories due to some shared characteristics. Though I’m sure there are those Yankees who’d like to take it in a Nazi-Germany-like direction, the conditions look to me more like it’d reach civil war before any such unified leadership and base of support. Though you could argue some of Nazi-like stuff is already happening (e.g. with ICE), the US being systemically racist is nothing new.

I’m inclined to argue that the US is more like a precursor to Nazi Germany than it is a country that imitates it; that the US has always been similar to Nazi Germany but it couched it in white supremacy in a way that makes its horrors less stark and obvious to people who are considered white. It can still get worse, I don’t deny this at all, but the way I’d characterize it in this moment is that the US is several different grifts going on at the same time (grifts like: AI is going to save us / kill us, we’re strong enough and organized enough to do “America first” renewal of white supremacy and empire, we can do whatever we want). And then the reality underneath these grifts is stuff like: AI as inevitable and all-encompassing is a facade to cover up the increasingly fake economy and jobs market, attempts to renew white supremacy and empire are hastening decline, and the range of what the empire can do is increasingly shrinking to intimidation followed by taking performative concessions if they can’t get anything else.

This is not to say there isn’t real power still behind the posturing, but that the power does not match up to the posturing anymore and so the posturing becomes a means of trying to scare people into believing the power is still what it once was. You can see similar to this in how some US companies will use better marketing as a substitute for being able to provide satisfactory products/services. So if you think of the empire as like a corporation, and it arguably is in many ways, the marketing department is doing overtime (figuratively speaking - I don’t know what their hours are) to compensate for the empire not being able to do what it once could. Shock and awe is common, as is attempts to secure spectacular yet largely meaningless wins.

We need to be able to investigate in a way that can see past the marketing veil to the nitty gritty of what the empire is actually capable of doing and what it is doing beyond impressions gathered through headlines (which can be misleading and can be part of the marketing department). It is a bad situation, I’m with you on that, but it also may be, in some ways, bad in different ways than its appearances would suggest. For example, I tend to be less concerned about well organized death camps in the style of Nazi Germany and more concerned about infrastructure collapse that is hard to reverse, of the kind that could send the country into an “every grifter for themself” death spiral. Already, the Trump admin’s chipping away at federal organization is setting the stage for crises to amass. Whether it is extreme weather events (made more frequent and more destructive) without resources to properly respond to them; spread of diseases that are harder to control the spread of / respond to as needed; food safety issues that are harder to track and adjust to, along with brittle “just in time” logistics; worsening fuel costs and the knockoff effects of it due to the quagmire that is the empire trying to make Iran kneel, along with the already-existing damage done to supply chains and amount of supply and so on, that doesn’t seem to have yet to fully show up but still will.

This may be one of the best times to be trying to build communist-vanguard-backed community resources to quite literally save people if/when the current system becomes unable to sustain itself.

This was supposed to be “made more frequent and more destructive [by climate change]”. Not trying to imply the US is controlling the weather or something lol.

Teach people dialectical materialism. Use Politzer’s “elementary principles of philosophy” and read it if you havent yet. I feel like one of the greatest obstacles to consciousness is the relative obscurity of dialectical materialism so thats a step in the right direction I think.

Unfortunately I pretty much agree. If the U.S. capitalists have their way, we will all be ruled by capitalist-funded superintelligence, which will ensure U.S. dominance forever and the suppression/execution of the now-unnecessary former working class. All I can say is that we should improve ourselves, study up, try to organize in the US, and if that doesn’t work, fuck off to China or some other AES country so we can at least help save everyone else in the world. My condolences to any of the Americans who insist on staying when that time comes.

    I’ve posted this earlier:

There are only 2 ways the worker-capitalist contradiction can ever be solved:

    1. communism, where the abundant fruits of automation are distributed evenly among all, ala fully automated luxury communism
    2. exterminism (from Peter Frase’s book Four Futures), where the capitalists finally fulfill their dream of automating everything and can genocide all the unneeded workers (with robot soldiers and whatnot).

It’s quite important we bring about revolution before option 2 becomes viable.

We have a maximum of maybe 50 years before the capitalists work out all the kinks in their super-intelligence dream. Maybe the collapse of the U.S. empire will stop this, or maybe not. It is all hard to say.

One thing I am confident on is that the capitalists will never have superintelligence because the means to create that is beyond what the capitalist mode of production can do. It’s like asking feudalism to make the cell phone. We’re out here squeezing water out of a silicon stone.
