• On a more serious note, don’t use chloroform to knock someone else. It takes a while to kick in, and it has serious aftereffects. There’s a reason anesthesiologists don’t use it anymore now that we have safer ways to put people under

People only pass out from head impacts if the brain damage is bad enough to be permanent, but don’t always pass out from receiving permanent brain damage, so this is really bad, too. I’ve read (but probably on Reddit rather than a real source) that people pass out from hypoxia well before any permanent damage, so choking people is safer, especially if you learn to do a blood-choke properly so don’t risk crushing their windpipe. Alternatively, lure them into an operating theatre where a qualified anaesthetist who knows their weight and medical history is waiting, as they’re really the only people who should be making other people pass out.

    • This is a World of Darkness joke.

The sigil on the fox furry is from Changeling: the Dreaming, and represents the Pooka, kith who take the form of animals in their seeming. Pooka are playful fae who delight in deceit and tricks. Their bane is that they are completely incapable of telling the truth, even if they want to.

The sigil on the truck represents the Technocracy, an organization of mages who think reality should follow the rigid logic of science and reason and that a world where a jealous neighbor can curse you with the evil eye or a dragon can burn your village down is a bad place to live. As is evident by the fact that our reality seems to follow their ideology, they are winning. Unfortunately, the Technocracy has found that, unlike dragons and krakens and the Mothman, certain things rhat go bump in the night such as vampires and werewolves and changelings do no stop existing when the Sleepers (we non-mages) stop believing in them. So, they are forced to make them stop existing the mundane way.

Just say some obviously false things so people get the pattern. Or start with “Today is opposite day”, which isn’t a real thing so they can say that, but people will understand they’re implying everything else they say is false.

Personally, I just rule it as an OCD-like compulsion to withhold the truth when prompted out of them.

        • Depends on your storyteller, tbh. The book suggests that most pooka communicate in metaphors, which allow you to get much closer to the truth. It’s clearly a class you play for the roleplay.

Cool, thank you for the thorough description. I’d heard of some of the World of Darkness systems but I didn’t know about the lore. Now I wanna play em

Shameless plug (mods, feel free to delete, just don’t know how to properly organise a game over lemmy), but I’ve got a small server that occasionally runs games. I’m seeing if I can get together a small group for about 3-4 sessions, but that might fall through.

Lemondice! To get past the barrier, say you’re from lemmy.
