Ah yes, “fearmongering” on the left. I’m glad you were able to figure out out so quickly, but…what if it was further along there, ma’am
But the problem isn’t whether it’s actually illegal or not. The problem is the potential for getting arrested and having to spend fucktons of money and time to defend in court that something is not illegal. When that potential is low because the law is well written, people are less concerned. But the anti-abortion laws are almost never well written and the potential for abuse is extremely high. Most of us assume this is by design, and here this lady is too wrapped up in her privilege and righteousness to see the reality of why she experienced what she did.
Right, doctors would rather kill their parents than have to spend time in court.
if a doctor spends time in court, that’s time they’re not spending saving lives… public health is about making sure the resources of public care are allocated to as many people as possible
Doctor’s would much rather save patient’s, but that’s also harder when you’re in court instead of the office or hospital. In the meantime they have to cross their fingers that the patient hangs on long enough to come close enough to death that they’re allowed to save them.
They can save them at any time. They choose to force them close to death so they can avoid spending time in court.
At least if a doctor takes the day off to spend time in court the hospital can find a replacement to treat the patients. If the doctor stays, but decides to deprive their patients of care to avoid court, then the hospital isn’t going to replace them.
Overall, more people suffer and more people die.
I don’t blame them, I choose to keep my head down to not sacrifice myself too, but let’s not pretend it isn’t happening.
Exactly! It’s basic human psychology! Which is precisely why 1) experts were able to accurately predict this exact issue and warn everyone that it was going to happen this way and 2) the physicians aren’t the problem and shouldn’t be blamed or shamed for being human.
This just reminds me that republicans think those laws are all well-written and not a jumbled mess made on the spot by an overly sensitive Republican snowflake who has literally never interacted with a woman.
