Biden put tarriffs on chinese EVs which is why you can’t buy a BYD in the us. This is not an example of appeasement, this is what they do regardless.

And pose a far more immediate threat to people in the US since they operate domestically
A report in Australia found that the worst brands for data collection were Tesla (American), Hyundai (Korean), and Kia (Korean).
Admittedly, the report did not include any Chinese brands other than MG, so this doesn’t necessarily exonerate Chinese brands, but it does at least show that China should not be the only target of this sort of thing.
The best brands were Japanese cars other than Mazda.
Yes, it’s more likely “only we can collect car data”.
