Aalborg Zoo has asked for donations of live chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs, which it says are “gently euthanised” by trained staff.
The zoo also accepts donations of live horses - with owners able to benefit from a potential tax break.

a natural solution. Extremely natural. Just like it happens in nature when such critters encounter pets.
The international press misleadingly reporting on this and people getting outraged by the misleading reporting is a very interesting phenomenon to watch.
It’s the good old “But I want to be upset!” - enhanced by our modern media.

Wasn’t referring to the article, was referring to the comments in the discussion. Read them and you’ll see where the misleading part lies.
Right, but I was specifically asking about the misleadingly reporting by the press that the previous comment claimed was happening.
Of course there will be bad takes in a comment section. It’s a comment section. That is a given.
I’d say it’s mostly the headline being clickbait again. It gives the impression the zoo wants people to give up their loved pets, and it makes people get enraged over puppies and kittens when they’re actually talking about rabbits and guinea pigs

if you run out of free meat, then you must resume buying meat.
A modern European country will never run out of unwanted pets.

thats what shelters are for. probably going to source free meat from overcrowded shelters.
I’m speechless. Utterly speechless.
Not just a sane solution, might also raise the bar for getting a small pet for the heck of it if it’s not just going back to the shelter where they lived happily ever after ™
