They’d be bragging about it on the news in order to promote the chilling effect. The question at that point would be if it caused an armed reaction. They want to start a civil war because they think they will win.
If they pulled something like this, do you think people would finally get into action?
It really feels like they’re testing the waters before going full-on Nazi and dragging their political opponents off the street.
I’ve give it a good 15 to 20% chance that the public, or a governor, would show up with enough force of arms to cause a civil war. Outside of that I’d give it a 50/50 chance of working out for the Nazi’s. The reality though is that the left isn’t organized around any kind of physical force. The worst thing the right could do is cause that to change. Because of course they would immediately try to stop it, causing a military Streisand effect. If your political opponents are organizing to physically protect themselves from you, attacking them for it, will make them organize and react with violence much faster. The only thing worse than organized violence, is quickly escalating organized violence.
