    It looks horrible, but that in itself does not mean it is horrible. It gets constantly rinsed with fresh water, and that contains metals and limestone among other things. Those can set in the pipes over time. It reduces flow and efficiency but isn’t always reason for (health)concern. Probably some other damage made the replace those. (otherwise you need to replace the whole piping system to make a difference)

    That’s happening to all pipes in all places. If you think your pipes are special. I have beach front property to sell you.

    That’s how pipes work… it’s just buildup of minerals or metals in the pipes. It’s already in your water and it’s perfectly fine. Like redlemace said, just cause it looks bad doesn’t mean it is bad.
