I needed two similar pieces of wood to prevent my sofa from banging against the wall and damaging it.

Cut the pieces and it was ugly and misshapen. Have a hand pane so I shaved off the jagged bits.

Miter boxes don’t help when you can’t keep a saw steady.

      Not particularly… I’d say the average older vice is better quality than the average new vice. However, if you’re willing to spend some decent money on a new vice you can find some that are quite a bit better than your average older vice.

        While I have issues with a lot of his stuff, the DIY and hardtail vices from fireball tool on YouTube look pretty good.

          Yeah… Some of those are insanely priced. Their bench top vices aren’t bad though.

          I would check out Lee Valley if you have the option. Pretty much everything on there is solid quality for a fair price.
